Huge Universal Update for ‘Junk Jack’ Now Available
It was just last Wednesday that we expected a huge update for Junk Jack [ $2.99 ] to be hitting soon, and in this case soon meant over the weekend. This massive content update gives the game long-awaited Universal support, and let me tell you it is a dream playing on the larger screen of the iPad. Unfortunately though, there’s no Retina support, but it still looks quite good with its simplistic pixel art style. Check out the new trailer showcasing the version 1.1 update features.
Universal support is just one of the many, many new things in this latest Junk Jack update though. More enemies, items, an entire farming system, tons of food recipes and a ridiculous amount of tweaks also grace the game. You can check out the exhaustive list (literally eye-tiring) in the App Store description, but all you really need to know is that Junk Jack continues to significantly improve with each new iteration and looks to continue that trend well into the future.
Note: For some reason the lite version of the game is no longer in the App Store. We’ll get to the bottom of this and update the post with a link or a reason for its disappearance as soon as we find out.

‘Marvel vs. Capcom 2′ Hits the App Store Tonight
When we said that Marvel vs Capcom 2 was hitting the App Store “next week” last week, I think we all assumed that meant it’d be in the standard barrage of Wednesday night releases. Well, this is not the case, as the game is already available in most international regions and should appear for download on the U.S. App Store at 11:00 PM Eastern tonight.
are starting to roll in, and so far it seems like the game is what you’d expect in that if you can handle the virtual controls, you’ll be in for a good time. Some forum members with 3GS-level hardware are noting some slowdown, but anything more recent than that seems to be A-OK. Also, the game is universal, which only makes things more awesome.
We’ll take a closer look at the game in the not too distant future.
App Store Link: Marvel vs. Capcom 2, $2.99 (Will be available in all regions at 11:00 PM Eastern.)

‘Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes’ Hits App Store Next Week
Originally released over a decade ago, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes was a hell of a fighting game in its day. The iOS version features all 28 characters from the Marvel side of the fence and 28 characters from the Capcom dojos. As far as we can tell, this is a very complete port of the game, although it all obviously comes down to how well it controls.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 should be available next week at 11:00 PM Eastern on Wednesday night with all the rest of the new game releases. …And I can’t wait to beat up Mega Man with Wolverine.

‘Sid Meier’s Pirates!’ Hits iPhone
Huge! This afternoon, 2K Games released an iPhone version of Sid Meier’s Pirates [$2.99]. This new-look take on the classic action adventure game first hit iPad last June, well after the Wii version its based on hit retail shelves. Despite its age, it’s still a fabulous game. 2K successfully leveraged what the Pirates brand has always done best and added a few new, fun, and meaningful mechanics and systems on top of that. Our original review is still available on the Interwebs, if you’d like to examine the game more closely.
This appears to be a straight-up port of that version for phones, so don’t expect to see anything new. If this is your second or third time through, we heartily suggest being completely chaotic and evil. The amount of disdain people have for you and the amount of havoc you’ll be able to get away with is totally worth the effort.

Hack ‘N Slash Platformer ‘Spellsword’ Releasing Later This Month
Late last month we caught the first video for ’s upcoming hack ‘n slash platformer Spellsword, and thought it looked pretty darn cool. It’s an arena-style game similar to Super Crate Box but with larger environments, more enemy types, and many upgradeable items. It also features a more structured campaign with 90 levels in addition to unlockable endless arenas. In case you missed it before, you can check out Spellsword in action in the following trailer.
Yesterday , Everplay announced that Spellsword has an official release date, which will be two weeks from this Thursday on April 26th. We’ve been anxious to get our hands on Spellsword since it was announced, especially since it’s from the same team that did Terra Noctis so we know they can do platforming right. It all sounds good so far on paper, but the real test will be when we can get our hands on the final version of Spellsword when it hits later this month.
